The famous soul touching singer, Timi was born on the 20th of January, 1981 in Accra, Ghana to a Nigerian dad and a Ghanaian mother. His father is David and he from Bayelsa state while his mother’s name is Norah. Timi lost his mom when he was 13 years old and was raised by his grandma, Ateni Dakolo and aunt, Susan Larry in Port Harcourt. He had his elementary and secondary education in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He later went to the University of Port Harcourt where he read Communication Studies however it is uncertain if he completed this programme.
Timi Dakolo always makes reference to his aunt, Susan Larry as his initial singing teacher and began singing in church as early as 12 years old. In 2003, he and others formed a group considered Purple Love that ruled the Port Harcourt club circuit around then.
