The American/Morocan rapper French Montana was conceived Karim Kharbouch on November 9, 1984, in Rabat, Morocco. Growing up his two greatest interests were playing soccer and rapping. His single “Unforgettable” (featuring Swae Lee) reached #1 on the US Rap chart as well as #2 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart and #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 in the UK. “Unforgettable” was Montana’s first song as a lead artist to reach the top 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Montana is fluent in his native Arabic and French as well as in English. In 2003, two gunmen shot at Montana as he left a recording studio in New York, striking him in the head. He survived and was hospitalized for several weeks. One of the gunmen died during the incident, in what is believed to be a case of “friendly fire” by one assailant against the other. Montana was investigated for the incident, but the case was eventually dismissed. According to French, he was set up by someone close to him and his circle.
Montana married Deen Kharbouch in 2007. The couple separated by 2012, and their divorce was finalized in 2014. They have a son who was born in 2010.
French has been the owner of a number of pets, ranging from dogs to exotic animals such as tigers and a monkey. On April 22, 2013, French Montana posted an Instagram picture with the caption “Got so high last night bought 2 baby tigers.” The picture was of French outdoors holding two tiger cubs, one on each arm. The tigers, named Ike and Tina, were prominently featured in French’s music video for “The Gifted” featuring friend and singer The Weeknd, released later that year. In February 2020, French listed the home for sale for double what he paid, $6.6 million. He reduced the price to $5.999 million a few months after it was first listed.
