Cuppy reside in Ilupeju for six years before moving to Ikeja where she attended Grange School, Lagos, She then relocated to London for her GCSEs and A-Levels. Cuppy graduated from King’s College London in July 2014, with a degree in business and economics. She later earned a master’s degree in the music business from New York University in 2015.
Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua was born Oluwaseyi Odedere on 21 December 1985. She is professionally known as Seyi Shay (pronounced Shay-yee Shay), is a Nigerian-based singer, songwriter and actress. She wrote and produced three songs for the soundtrack to Konami’s video game Crime Life: Gang Wars (2005). She also wrote “You Will See”, a song that was included on Melanie C’s third studio album Beautiful Intentions (2005). Shay wrote “White Lies”, a song from Chip’s Transition album. In 2008, she became the lead singer for the now defunct pop girl group From Above. The group signed a recording deal with Sony’s Columbia Records and was managed by Mathew Knowles’ Music World Entertainment company. In November 2013, Shay signed an endorsement deal with telecommunications service provider Etisalat. In July 2015, she signed a record deal with Island Records. Shay released her debut studio album Seyi or Shay in November 2015. It was supported by the promotional singles “Irawo”, “Ragga Ragga”, and “Chairman”.
The EP features singles ‘Jollof On The Jet’, the global sensation featuring Rema and RayVanny that has charted in over 15 countries, and the recently-released ‘Karma’ featuring award-winning dancehall star Stonebwoy. Billboard.africa gathered that exciting young DJ and producer Cuppy has unveiled her debut album Original Copy, out 21st August. Many years in the making, Original Copy features an array of high-profile collaborations and sees Cuppy tap into a sound she describes as “neo-Afrobeats”, with the 12-track releasing tackling themes ranging from independence to love lost and African pride.
Further star-studded tracks include Grammy winner Wyclef Jean making an appearance on the feel good ‘Wale’, Bob Marley’s son Julian linking up with Nigerian favourite Sir Shina Peters on the cross-continental anthem ‘54’. The project also features some of the biggest Nigerian artists like; Teni, Fireboy, Seyi Shay, Ycee and Nonso Amadi.
The popular Nigerian disc jockey, musician, and producer, Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as Cuppy has taken a giant stride in her career. She has finally released her anticipated album, Original Copy, on Friday, 21st of August. The tracklist, released at the beginning of August, revealed that the album includes Cuppy’s recent hit singles “Jollof on the Jet” featuring Rema & Rayvanny and “Karma” featuring Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy. Cuppy’s latest project, “Original Copy” album houses 12-tracks and features the likes of musicians such as Wyclef Jean, Efya, Stonebwoy, Teni, Sir Shina Peters, Seyi Shay, Ycee, Nonso Amadi, Rayvanny, Rema and others.
