Burna Boy was born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu on July 2, 1991, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is the eldest of 3 children and the only boy to Bosede and Samuel Ogulu. At the age of 10, he began experimenting with music after a classmate introduced him to FruityLoops, a production software that is quite common amongst music producers. Burna Boy completed grade school in Nigeria. Throughout his secondary phase, he was a member of his high school band. Burna Boy officially launched his career in 2010 after signing his first contract with Aristocrat Records. In 2012, he garnered spotlight attention when his single “Like To Party” triggered a positive uproar. The dynamic single alongside “Run My Race” and “#YawaDey” anchored his debut album “L.I.F.E,” released in August of 2013. The project was his first major work below the imprint. The album featured artists like Tuface, Timaya, M.I Abaga, and Wizkid, to name a few.
In 2014, Burna Boy parted ways with Aristocrat Records and, a year later, established his own label, Spaceship Entertainment. “On a Spaceship,” his second studio album, was the first major project to bear his brand.
